Snorkeling in Maui

Maui-Snorkeling.jpeg

Along with snorkeling at Molokini, most of the boats go to a second snorkel spot called “Turtle Town”. This snorkel spot is right off the coast of Maui, but you can only get there by boat. This second spot is teaming with wildlife, and although we don’t have them on leashes, you have a very good chance of seeing turtles and to swim with them.

Turtle Town offers a bit more sea life as it is shallower and many of the smaller fish swim there as they are protected by the coral reef. It is, however, not always as clear and calm as the water in Molokini.

So, if you take one of the boats that goes to Molokini and to Turtle Town, you get two snorkel spots and each of them offers something unique.

Snorkeling Tip- After experiencing Molokini Crater, here are some additional snorkel spots you can explore on your own.

If you are on the West side (Lahaina), there is Ka’anapali Beach –home of Black Rock, Kahekili Beach, Napili Bay, and Kapalua Bay- just to name a few. On the South side of the Island in the Kihei/Wailea area, there are several coves, and Big Beach- which is so big it has two entrances! Each of these beaches has easy walk-in to the water access. There is live coral and all of these snorkel spots are teaming with fish and sometimes turtle and manta rays.
